The J. W. Walker & Sons Pipe Organ

Our two-manual, 20-stop, mechanical-action pipe organ was crafted by J. W. Walker & Sons, Ltd. of England and installed in 1983. It possesses a warm, distinctive, and noble singing quality suited for service music, choral accompaniment, and a wide range of organ literature — described as among the three best organs in Hawai'i, and certainly the finest on the Windward side of O'ahu.

A tracker organ is distinguished by its mechanical action: the links between keys, stops, and pipes are direct rather than electrical, letting the artist control the speech and articulation of each pipe. It has two 61-note keyboards and a 32-note pedalboard, with ebony naturals and bone-capped sharps, enclosed in a 16-foot free-standing case of African mahogany.

Timothy Cubero, Jr.

Choirmaster-Organist

Timothy Cubero, Jr. is Choirmaster-Organist at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Kailua, where he previously served as Director of Music-Organist. A Hawaii church musician since 1978, Tim also serves as Organist-Cantor and Pianist at St. Augustine Church by the Sea-Waikiki, continuing a 20+ year ministry there. A retired University of Hawaii educator, he holds degrees in education, English, and piano pedagogy. Tim and his wife, Nieves, have two adult children. He is grateful to share his love of music and faith through service at St. Christopher's, where he welcomes all to “Honor and Please God.” “God Is Real!”
