Answers about Giving
*What is Stewardship? It is a spiritual commitment of our time, talent and treasure, based on our belief that we give because God gave to us. It goes beyond a financial pledge, although that is needed. It is a way of life in which we Christians put God at the center. During this season we typically focus on pledging from our treasure, to support what God is doing and seeking to do through our St. C’s Ohana.
*What is a pledge? It is your best estimate of what you may be able to give financially over the next year. It is critical for the church as it plans its budget. Your pledge helps us assure that our doors are open, sacraments are offered, pastoral care is provided, Christian education is offered, and outreach given to those most in need in our community.
*How do I know what to pledge? Only you can decide. You may have heard of the Biblical “tithe” – returning your first fruits back to God through out church. But, just remember that the key is that you respond to what God has given you and what you would like to give to God’s work through St. C’s.
*What is proportional giving? Again, the biblical standard is a “tithe” – 10% of one’s income. That is hard for most people. So, pick a proportion and go from there. If you have pledged for awhile, think about increasing your pledge. And, remember that if you itemize your taxes, giving to your parish is a deduction.
*What if I need to adjust my pledge – up or down? Just let the office know (e-mail, note, new pledge card, etc.). Circumstances change and we all understand that.
*How do I offer my pledge? Weekly, monthly, or as a 1 – time gift. In the offering plate, sending in a check, having your bank do so, or using e-offering. ALSO, we can provide envelopes to you if you would like. Just ask us.
*PRAISE GOD, FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW: God is doing great things through St. C’s. Please help us in our wonderful ministry of faith.
JOIN THE CHOIR
Choir singing improves health and happiness! Please join us for our weekly choir rehearsals at 6:30 pm Wednesday evenings on ZOOM. We practice for 30 - 45 minutes. You get to sing out as loud as you want to! Anyone is welcome! ~Contact Ina so that she can send you the link to join us!
We desperately need folks willing to help live-stream services to people watching from home. It is fairly easy. Youth may want to do this for a community service project. Others are welcome and needed, too. If you can help, PLEASE contact Giovan (808.294.0695) or Preston (615.516.9191). Mahalo!
