This Sunday's flowers are in memory of Helen Ching, who was born on October 6 many years ago and whose celebration of life was October 6 last year.
Preston will be teaching "Golf and God" in the Rector's office, beginning on October 27 and running through November 17. Topics will include: See the Shot/See God; Feel the Shot/Feel the Holy Spirit; Trust the Shot/Trust God. He'll also cover bunkers, water hazards, and "rub of the green" (in other words, when bad things happen to good people). Come join us, all you golfers and non-golfers alike! 8:30am-9:15am.
SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS
If you know of anyone who would like a ride to church, occasional help with meals, or help shopping (a ride to the store or a list to be filled) please notify any vestry members on the Care of Parish Committee: Paula Sterling (254-3114), Joanna Witt (258-5945), Diana Garcia (703-489-7938), Karen Gifford (262-0352).
2020 PLEDGE LETTERS
Our stewardship theme this year is Shining our Light. You should receive a personal letter from a vestry member next week, as well as a pledge card for you to prayerfully consider. Shining our Light is heart work - yes - heart work. It is a way you show your love for God, Jesus Christ, and our St. Christopher's ohana. Your pledge is an act of faith and can change the world as it is prayerfully used in the name of Jesus. We ask that if you are already a pledger, you prayerfully consider raising your pledge. If you have not pledged in the past, now, as we move into our 75th year, is a great time to start!
The annual Family Promise 5K Fun Run will be held on Saturday, October 26th. This year’s event celebrates in the spirit of Halloween and encourages participants to dress in costume! The Fun Run course will start and end at Kailua Intermediate School – Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii Windward Clubhouse. A hot breakfast sponsored by Monkeypod Kitchen, as well as a raffle of donated prizes from local sponsors, will follow the race. All proceeds from this event go directly to assisting families experiencing homelessness on Oahu. All registrants after September 30th will receive a trucker hat.
We would like to show hospitality to those doing the Fun Run! Would you like to give water and encouragement to runners as they pass our church? Let Mother Giovan or the office know.
Would you like to learn how to save someone’s life? On November 10, we will invite Ms. Rae Costa from the Diocesan Support Center to teach a CPR/First Aid/AED class at our church after services. Classes will be offered at 8:15 and at 10:30. The cost is $40 per person. There is an online portion of the course that must be completed prior to attending the live class. Please send an email to Carly if you are interested in attending. Mahalo!
TUESDAY BIBLE STUDY
All are welcome to join us in Mo. Giovan's office at 10am. We are reading "Searching for Sunday" by Rachel Held Evans. Pick up your copy of the book in the office.
As we approach All Saints' Day: Please bring a picture of a family member or friend who is no longer with us in this world. There will be a "Table of Remembrance" in the back by the organ, and a notebook to write in the name of those you would like remembered.
