A message from our Curate
The Lesson this week is about the manna in the wilderness. The Gospel lesson is about all day laborers being paid the same, whether they started in the morning or in the late afternoon. This is all a reminder of God's abundance. When God gives, God gives out of his vast abundance and grace. As Paul said, and Luther said later, we cannot earn what God gives us; what God gives us is given because of the magnificent goodness of God and God's love for us. What God gives is not pay, but a gift; not a reward, but grace. Stewardship is about believing in the abundance of God ... and about our attitude toward that abundance. Israel ultimately gave thanks for the manna and the quail, surprised at God's abundance. The workers who began later in the day gave thanks for the full day's payment, surprised at the owner's abundance. I invite you this week to gather the manna that God provides for you, leaving enough so that your companions on the journey can receive some, too, and trusting that there will be more tomorrow. That is the economics of God's grace - it is more than we deserve and it is just what we need.
See you in church this week.

IN-PERSON SERVICES THIS SUNDAY
We will be worshipping in our sacred space this Sunday. Please wear a mask and honor social distancing guidelines.
If you do not feel well or do not feel comfortable joining us in the sanctuary, join us online at our Facebook page to worship with us.
Give Aloha starts September 1st! Each day in the month of September, you can go to any Foodland or Sack n Save store on the island and make a contribution to St. Christopher's of up to $249 per individual. Foodland and Western Union match the funds, depending on our percentage giving, stretching your offerings even more! Our giving number is 78615.
You may also give online. Please click here for instructions on how to donate online. Contact Chelsea if you need assistance.
JOIN THE CHOIR
Please join us for our weekly choir rehearsals at 6:30 pm Wednesday evenings on ZOOM. We practice for 30 - 45 minutes. While a zoom rehearsal is not as efficient as an in person rehearsal because I have to mute everyone, you do get to sing out as loud as you want to! Anyone is welcome! ~Ina
We desperately need folks willing to help live-stream services to people watching from home. It is fairly easy. Youth may want to do this for a community service project. Others are welcome and needed, too. If you can help, PLEASE contact Giovan (808.294.0695) or Preston (615.516.9191). Mahalo!
