Preston will be teaching the final seminar for "Golf and God" in the Rector's office between services, November 24. Topics will include: See the Shot/See God; Feel the Shot/Feel the Holy Spirit; Trust the Shot/Trust God. He'll also cover bunkers, water hazards, and "rub of the green" (in other words, when bad things happen to good people). Come join us, all you golfers and non-golfers alike!
Thank you to all who took the Spiritual Life Inventory! Your RenewalWorks Team is having great discussions about how we can grow closer to Christ as individuals and as a church. If you have suggestions about how the church can support your spiritual growth, please utilize the suggestion box at the back of the church.
SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS
If you know of anyone who would like a ride to church, occasional help with meals, or help shopping (a ride to the store or a list to be filled) please notify any vestry members on the Care of Parish Committee: Paula Sterling (254-3114), Joanna Witt (258-5945), Diana Garcia (703-489-7938), Karen Gifford (262-0352).
2020 PLEDGE LETTERS
Our stewardship theme this year is Shining our Light. You should receive a personal letter from a vestry member next week, as well as a pledge card for you to prayerfully consider. Shining our Light is heart work - yes - heart work. It is a way you show your love for God, Jesus Christ, and our St. Christopher's ohana. Your pledge is an act of faith and can change the world as it is prayerfully used in the name of Jesus. We ask that if you are already a pledger, you prayerfully consider raising your pledge. If you have not pledged in the past, now, as we move into our 75th year, is a great time to start!
SPAGHETTI DINNER REQUEST
We are collecting for the winter food drive for the Institute for Human Services. Our goal is to collect enough food for 300 dinners. We will need 30 pounds of spaghetti sauce, 30 pounds of spaghetti noodles, and 30 pounds of canned green beans. St. C’s has been very generous in the past and it is much appreciated by those at IHS. We thank Penny Sonoda, Larry Stamey, and John Stefan for being co-leaders in this ministry! For questions please call the Parish Administrator, 262.8176.
Our next Family Promise week begins December 1. Please lend a hand on Saturday, November 30 sprucing up our space for our guests.
Please mark your calendars for the revival of our long standing tradition of the State Hospital Dinner, December 8. We will be needing donations of cooked (and carved) turkeys and pumpkin pies, volunteers to help decorate the Parish Hall (anyone want to lead that group?), servers and parishioners who will enjoy the meal with our guests.
